Wings of Earth
A fan made from two whole preserved pheasant wings, for moving smoke and clearing the air of a space, a person or an object.
The wings are ethically sourced (found on woodland walks) and preserved with feathers intact, so it fans as a wing naturally would, in one clean sweep. Set into a leather handle with a tigers eye stone embedded into where your thumb would naturally sit, it is a striking tool as well as a working one. This fan feels very grounding and earthy while also connecting to the element of air.
Draw the smoke where you want it, over the body, into the corners of a room, around an object you are setting right. Where breath or hand would be too coarse, the wing moves the smoke with power and intention.
Cleansing with smoke is one of the old ways of tending a space: a pause, a resetting, a way of marking that something has shifted or needs to. The fan is your means of guiding it.
