A drum of fierce protection and Spirit connection.

As I was birthing this drum, its name became clear to me. Ice.

It showed me how spiritual protection is like a layer of thick ice, blocking anything that is not needed while still letting the light shine through. It holds this medicine deeply. It showed me too how the drum can be used as a spiritual shield during journey and spirit work. Rawhide is strong, and has been stretched over shields in times past.

This drum carries the medicine of Isa, the ice rune.

Isa is a single upright line, still and unbending. It’s the ice on the water, the great stilling that stops all motion and lays everything bare. Where the water was churning and clouded, ice holds it still, and in that stillness the murk sinks and the seeing clears.

It is the protection of standing still and knowing yourself, clear and cold and unmoved, so that what is not yours cannot get a hold on you. Isa sharpens the instinct and hones the discernment, the knowing of what to let in and what to turn away at the door. It teaches the hardest of the openings, the one where you stay soft enough to receive and clear enough to refuse, both at once. To open and to remain protected is the whole of its teaching.

Cow is the sacred feminine in her oldest, most grounded form. She is the great mother who feeds and tends and asks for gentleness, the one who lives close to the body and its slow honest rhythms. Her medicine here is the tending of the flesh, the remembering that the body is holy ground and not a thing to be left behind on the journey. She holds you in your bones while the spirit travels, so there is always a warm body to come home to.

The willow tempers all of this. She is the tree of the moon and the deep water, the one who bends without breaking, and she brings the clarity of still water to sit alongside the cold clarity of the ice. Between willow and Isa this drum sees clearly, and between cow and its own strong hide it keeps you safe while you look.

The back has a strong four direction handle, which feels powerful in the hand, the four ways held together in one grip.

This is a large drum with a deeper, guiding voice. It is a leader drum, made for leading circles and holding ceremony, for the one who walks at the front and keeps the edges of the space.

Each drum is handcrafted with care and covered by a 12-month warranty against defects in workmanship and materials.
If a fault occurs due to the construction of the drum or the materials used, please get in touch and I will work with you to find an appropriate resolution.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, improper care or storage, environmental conditions, modifications, or normal wear and tear. Variations in tone, appearance, and behaviour are natural characteristics of drums made from hide and other natural materials.

This is a ritual object, not a toy. Keep it away from children and pets, as it may include small parts that could pose a choking or safety hazard. Being made from natural materials, each piece carries slight variations in colour, shape and texture. These are not faults but the mark of a handmade object, and no two will ever be quite alike.
