A drum of connection to the other worlds, protection and guidance.

This drum combines the energies of the cow and the ash tree.

The cow is one of the oldest faces of the mother. In the Norse telling she is Audhumla, the great hornless cow who came out of the melting ice at the beginning of everything, and from her body ran four rivers of milk that fed the first of the giants. She licked at the salt and the frost and uncovered the first of the gods hidden in it. Before there were fields or fences or names for things, she was already there, feeding what had not yet learned to feed itself. To honour her is to honour the goddess in her oldest shape, the one who gives before she is asked, the milk that comes before language.

Cow asks you to be gentle. To let yourself be nourished as well as to do the nourishing, which is often the harder half. She is slow, she doesn’t rush her giving. There is a largeness to her, a room inside her, and this drum carries some of that room. It can hold a great deal without spilling.

The ash is seen as the world tree in Norse mythology, Yggdrasil, whose roots and branches thread through all the realms. Where cow roots you down into the body and the belly, ash carries you up and out into the wider weave, into the one energy that moves through all living things. Between the two of them this drum keeps a foot in the earth and a hand in the stars.

The handle has 5 spokes, representing connection to the elements, Air, Fire, Earth, Water & Space/Ether.

This is a large drum with a deeper but gentle voice, made for the ceremonies of the heart, for grief and for blessing, for holding sacred space and holding people within it.

Each drum will arrive with you along with a drum beater, Care Card & Ritual anointing oil.

Each drum is handcrafted with care and covered by a 12-month warranty against defects in workmanship and materials.
If a fault occurs due to the construction of the drum or the materials used, please get in touch and I will work with you to find an appropriate resolution.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, improper care or storage, environmental conditions, modifications, or normal wear and tear. Variations in tone, appearance, and behaviour are natural characteristics of drums made from hide and other natural materials.
